Comunicat arran de la sentència condemnatòria del Tribunal Suprem

El 18 de març es va fer pública la sentència del Tribunal Suprem que anul·la l’absolució de vuit de les encausades per l’acció d’Aturem el Parlament i les condemna a tres anys de presó.

Recordem que aquesta sentencia resol un recurs interposat per la Fiscalia, el Parlament de Catalunya, la Generalitat i Manos Limpias contra l’absolució dictada per l’Audiència Nacional el juliol de l’any passat.

Ens dirigim a totes aquelles persones, assemblees, col·lectius, organitzacions i marees que lluiten contra la màfia política i els fonamentalistes neoliberals. Volem convidar-vos a una manifestació unitària de repulsa contra aquesta sentència, però també contra la política de la por i la repressió que desplega un sistema en descomposició, que vol salvar els seus privilegis per sobre la dignitat de la resta de la població.

Cuando deshacer las lógicas del poder no es posible en el Museo

Tal y como a lo largo del día han ido comunicando los medios y algunas redes sociales, la exposición La bestia y el soberano, que tenía que tener lugar en el MACBA, ha sido cancelada hoy mismo, día de su inauguración.

La muestra ha sido comisariada por Hans D. Christ, Iris Dressler, Paul B. Preciado y Valentín Roma (estos dos últimos pertenecen al equipo del museo); y coproducida con el Württembergischer Kunstverein (WKV) Stuttgart. Exploraba cómo las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas cuestionan y deshacen la definición occidental y metafísica de la soberanía política: el modo en que éstas proponen maneras de entender la libertad y la emancipación que exceden el marco de la autonomía individual, así como la forma moderna del Estado-nación.

Volume 8 of The Johannesburg Salon is now live. Curated by Ayana Smythe (University of California, Santa Barbara), Megan Jones (University of Stellenbosch), Leigh-Ann Naidoo (University of the Witwatersrand) and Achille Mbembe (University of the Witwatersrand), it captures the form and spirit of “Archives of the Non-Racial”, the Mobile Workshop organized in 2014 by The Johannesburg Workshop in Theory and Criticism (JWTC) and the Seminar in Experimental Critical Thought (SECT) of the University of California Humanities Research Institute.

En els últims dies s’ha conegut la història d’en Renaud-Belleti, un relat de fets que esfereeixen i descobreixen les dinàmiques repressives i racistes de l’Estat espanyol.

Recentment ha estat internat al CIE de Barcelona per ser expulsat. Des de la Campanya estatal pel tancament dels CIEs ens oposem a la seva deportació i animem a la societat civil a no ser còmplice d’aquest silenciament i vulneració de drets contínua que és el racisme institucional.

This screening program stems from the urgencies of a collective body, a body formed by fragments, a mutant, which resists any classification, provocative, unsatisfied, which creates new ways of living by acting in the territory of transgression. Tropical Video Activism presents video productions – either registers of actions or more experimental poetics – as signs to make visible, read and spread social transformations, which are in furious excitement in the public sphere in many Southern geographies.

These processes are not happening just in a single territory. We can map the social effervescence, the networks arising and intensifying the emergence and encounter of new transborder communities capable of sharing activist tools and circulating critical information which in the past could only be found in independent, underground and thought marginal networks. Facing the urgency of action and its various potentialities in these different territories, the modern categories such as “originality” or “authenticity” are turned obsolete. In contrast, a broader notion of “network” is strengthen daily in the configuration of a collective battlefield.

«Un espectro se cierne sobre Europa» : así titulaba su portada hace unos días el diario italiano Il Manifesto, comentando las visitas de Tsipras y Varoufakis a los gobiernos europeos. Una verdadera pesadilla para los ordoliberales alemanes, un Geisterfahrer precisamente, el conductor suicida que quiere estamparse contra el autobús europeo: así ha escrito en su primera página Der Spiegel. Imaginemos lo que podría ocurrir con la victoria de Podemos en España: ¡qué enorme espectro se verá entonces al acecho, un verdadero monstruo generado por los explotados y por las fuerzas productivas de la cuarta economía europea! En pocas semanas comenzarán las citas electorales en España y se repetirá, con fuerza redoblada, la cantinela de los gobiernos europeos destinada a meter miedo a las y los ciudadanos españoles. Prepáremonos. Con la seguridad de que la prepotencia de los malos augurios de esta propaganda será derrotada. Pero mientras tanto, preparémonos: ¿qué podrá replicar Podemos sobre Europa?

Palestina en/sin el Museo. Pérdida, metáfora y emancipación

Seminario comisariado por Kristine Khouri y Rasha Salti en el contexto de la exposición Pasado inquieto. Narrativas y fantasmas de la Exposición internacional de arte en solidaridad con Palestina, 1978 . Con Fadi Bardawil, Catherine David, Alfredo Jaar, Kristine Khouri, Rasha Salti y Elias Sanbar.

El objetivo de las exposiciones archivísticas y documentales es proponer una revisión crítica de la historiografía y el entramado intelectual que enmarcan la producción de conocimiento sobre la práctica artística y museográfica. ¿Cómo ha evolucionado a lo largo del tiempo la relación de Palestina, un Estado que lucha aún para su reconocimiento internacional, con el museo y la práctica museográfica? ¿Puede ser el museo el lugar que encarne las aspiraciones de un territorio para alcanzar la condición de Estado? Palestina ha encarnado una «metáfora» para las demandas de autodeterminación, justicia y libertad de expresión de varias generaciones de militantes árabes, intelectuales y artistas. ¿Puede exponerse una metáfora en un museo? Finalmente, la Exposición internacional de arte en solidaridad con Palestina de 1978, que debía convertirse en un museo itinerante en el exilio, desapareció sin dejar rastro. La exposición cristaliza formas de compromiso político entre artistas de los años setenta que se han desvanecido completamente y al mismo tiempo es una «excavación» que interroga las narrativas críticas preeminentes de la escritura de la historia del arte.

JWTC 2014: Archives of the Non-Racial videos now available

Joint Session of Seminar in Experimental Critical Theory IX / The Johannesburg Workshop in Theory and Criticism took place across South Africa, starting in Johannesburg and ending in Cape Town (South Africa) from June 29 through July 11, 2014. The Archives of the Non-Racial Workshop assessed the possibilities and limits of the “nonracial” in terms of the politics of the modern world and its core values: democracy, freedom, dignity, equality, the human, universality, justice.

UCHRI has now released a website with information about the 2014 JWTC and UCHRI session, Archives of the Non-Racial.
