They have participated in numerous video, media and film presentations and received numerous awards. In Piran Coastal Galleries they present themselves not with a restrospective, but with a rearticulation of the state of affairs in video production in the national context. This is their first presentation in the Lo\u017ea Gallery Koper, where the artists are offering us a rich overview of their work.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Some important dates in their career:<br \/>\nIn 2003, a retrospective exhibition entitled MARINA GR\u017dINI\u0106 \/ AINA \u0160MID (1985\u20132003) at the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen in Germany took place.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2011, a retrospective entitled MARINA GR\u017dINI\u0106 \/ AINA \u0160MID, 30 YEARS: 26 WORKS IN 5 PARTS (screening of video works from 1982 to 2011) was held in Belgium at the Galerie D.O.R. in Brussels.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In 2017, a large retrospective exhibition of new works and installations entitled Marina Gr\u017eini\u0107 and Aina \u0160mid \u2013 RADICAL CONTEMPORANEITY: 35 years of work revisited (1982\u20132017), curated by Aneta Stojni\u0107, took place at Kunstraum Lakeside in Klagenfurt, Austria.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2853\" src=\"https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1500\" height=\"1000\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1.jpg 1500w, https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1-1024x682.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.damne.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/sh23_PP_KiG_1-1200x800.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1500px) 100vw, 1500px\" \/><\/a>&#8220;In the 1980s we immersed ourselves in socialist film forensics through video, in the 1990s we immersed ourselves in Balkan war forensics (Srebrenica genocide) and the arrival of new media, and in the 2000s we immersed ourselves in the trashy eye of the weaponized video medium. Drowned in quotations, mixtures of styles, documentaries, and death, today we dissect necropolitics, extractivism, coloniality and toxic racism. By focusing on politics, decoloniality and delinking, videos such as \u201cObsession\u201d (2008), \u201cNaked Freedom\u201d (2010) and \u201cImages of Struggle \/ Decoloniality\u201d (2011; done in collaboration with Zvonka T. Sim\u010di\u010d), etc., that were produced by one of the most important video artists from Slovenia, the former Yugoslavia and Eastern Europe, Marina Gr\u017eini\u0107 &amp; Aina \u0160mid, bring us a crucial insight. These videos, that were done in the context of the \u201ceconomic\u201d crisis, which was an important turning point, also reconsider the possibilities of how a powerful political statement can still be expressed in an experimental video, which is considered a very limited format.
