«Un espectro se cierne sobre Europa» : así titulaba su portada hace unos días el diario italiano Il Manifesto, comentando las visitas de Tsipras y Varoufakis a los gobiernos europeos. Una verdadera pesadilla para los ordoliberales alemanes, un Geisterfahrer precisamente, el conductor suicida que quiere estamparse contra el autobús europeo: así ha escrito en su primera página Der Spiegel. Imaginemos lo que podría ocurrir con la victoria de Podemos en España: ¡qué enorme espectro se verá entonces al acecho, un verdadero monstruo generado por los explotados y por las fuerzas productivas de la cuarta economía europea! En pocas semanas comenzarán las citas electorales en España y se repetirá, con fuerza redoblada, la cantinela de los gobiernos europeos destinada a meter miedo a las y los ciudadanos españoles. Prepáremonos. Con la seguridad de que la prepotencia de los malos augurios de esta propaganda será derrotada. Pero mientras tanto, preparémonos: ¿qué podrá replicar Podemos sobre Europa?

Seminario comisariado por Kristine Khouri y Rasha Salti en el contexto de la exposición Pasado inquieto. Narrativas y fantasmas de la Exposición internacional de arte en solidaridad con Palestina, 1978 . Con Fadi Bardawil, Catherine David, Alfredo Jaar, Kristine Khouri, Rasha Salti y Elias Sanbar.

El objetivo de las exposiciones archivísticas y documentales es proponer una revisión crítica de la historiografía y el entramado intelectual que enmarcan la producción de conocimiento sobre la práctica artística y museográfica. ¿Cómo ha evolucionado a lo largo del tiempo la relación de Palestina, un Estado que lucha aún para su reconocimiento internacional, con el museo y la práctica museográfica? ¿Puede ser el museo el lugar que encarne las aspiraciones de un territorio para alcanzar la condición de Estado? Palestina ha encarnado una «metáfora» para las demandas de autodeterminación, justicia y libertad de expresión de varias generaciones de militantes árabes, intelectuales y artistas. ¿Puede exponerse una metáfora en un museo? Finalmente, la Exposición internacional de arte en solidaridad con Palestina de 1978, que debía convertirse en un museo itinerante en el exilio, desapareció sin dejar rastro. La exposición cristaliza formas de compromiso político entre artistas de los años setenta que se han desvanecido completamente y al mismo tiempo es una «excavación» que interroga las narrativas críticas preeminentes de la escritura de la historia del arte.

JWTC 2014: Archives of the Non-Racial videos now available

Joint Session of Seminar in Experimental Critical Theory IX / The Johannesburg Workshop in Theory and Criticism took place across South Africa, starting in Johannesburg and ending in Cape Town (South Africa) from June 29 through July 11, 2014. The Archives of the Non-Racial Workshop assessed the possibilities and limits of the “nonracial” in terms of the politics of the modern world and its core values: democracy, freedom, dignity, equality, the human, universality, justice.

UCHRI has now released a website with information about the 2014 JWTC and UCHRI session, Archives of the Non-Racial.
