Zgodba o Ekatarini Veliki – zgodba o razpadu in propadu neke države

I know, David Lynch

the Ghost of Love, David Lynch

Crazy Clown Time, David Lynch

Marking a departure from his revered and influential musical collaborations in the past with Angelo Badalamenti (Twin Peaks), Polish pianist Marek Zebrowski (Inland Empire), and Sparklehorse and Danger Mouse (Dark Night of the Soul), David Lynch now reveals his first solo musical project, with the release of Crazy Clown Time on Sunday Best Recordings on November 7.

Recorded over several months at his own studio in Mulholland Drive with engineer Dean Hurley (who also contributes guitar and drums), “Crazy Clown Time” unveils a majestic, yet powerfully idiosyncratic vision of “modern blues” that could only be drawn from the mind of David Lynch. Filled with foreboding soundscapes, hypnotic rhythms and enigmatic lyrics, this is music that will resonate not only with fans of Lynch’s films, but also to listeners who appreciate daring, experimental music.

Jubilee-Derek Jarman

In Jubilee, Queen Elizabeth I (Runacre) is transported forward in time by the occultist John Dee (Richard O’Brien) through the spirit guide Ariel (a character from Shakespeare‘s The Tempest). Elizabeth arrives in the shattered Britain of the 1970s. Queen Elizabeth II is dead, killed in an arbitrary mugging, and Elizabeth I moves through the social and physical decay of the city observing the activities of a group of sporadic nihilists, including Amyl Nitrite (Jordan), Bod (Runacre in a dual role), Chaos (Hermine Demoriane), Crabs (Nell Campbell), and Mad (Toyah Willcox).

Numerous punk icons appear in the film including Jordan (a Malcolm McLaren protégé), Toyah Willcox, Nell Campbell, Adam Ant (born, Stuart Leslie Goddard), Demoriane and Wayne County. It features performances by Wayne County and Adam and the Ants. There are also cameo appearances by The Slits and Siouxsie and the Banshees. The film was scored by Brian Eno.

The film is heavily influenced by the 1970s punk aesthetic in its style and presentation. Shot in grainy colour, it is largely plotless and episodic. The film had many critics in British punk circles. Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood manufactured a T-shirt on which was printed an “open letter” to Jarman denouncing the film and his misrepresentations of punk. The film is now considered a cult classic, and was released by the Criterion Collection, a company that exclusively releases “contemporary classics” on DVDs.

Djuma Soundsystem-Small Fries

Since releasing their huge crossover hit “Les Djiins”, Djuma Soundsystem decided to go a bit more underground releasing on wellknown indie labels, like Get Physical, Rebirth, IO and Tool Room Records. Their recent single ”Blizzard” is still in heavy rotation in the boxes of djs like Tim Green, Noir, Sandy Rivera, Carlo Lio, Hector Romero, Mousse T., Martin Eyerer, Audiojack, Tocadisco, H.O.S.H. And Ramon Tapia,

Now the guys have just released “Stoli”, witch you can hear in this mix. It’s made in a colaboration with their long time friend, and room mate “One Brother”. It was just natural that a collaboration occured as some point, and ”Stoli” is the first to come out of it. It’s a rather driving, but warm and melodic piece of techhouse, and comes with a supporting hard hitting remix from Swedish Tiger Stripes. “Stoli” has received some great response from a ton of djs, just some of them are Tim Green, Carlo Lio, Jerome Sydenham, P.Toile, Wally Lopez, Michael Reinboth, Nick Warren, Audiojack, X-Press 2, Noir, Antix, Raymundo Rodriguez, Layo and Agoria. http://www.beatportal.com/artists/djuma-soundsystem/

Gus Gus-The Ice (Wareika Remix)

GusGus are a band from Reykjavík, Iceland. They were founded in 1995. Their discography consists of eight studio albums and one live record.Initially formed as a film and acting collective, the group became mostly known for their electronic music.

Several lineup changes have occurred, and their current incarnation consists of three members (President Bongo, Biggi Veira and Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson). After their third album, This Is Normal, the filmmaking arm of GusGus (Kjartansson and Árni Þorgeirsson) split off to form the production company Celebrator, now known as Arni & Kinski, which has produced award-winning advertisements and videos. A few former members such as Hafdís Huld, Blake, and Daníel Ágúst have gone solo, most notably though Emilíana Torrini, who provided a song for the soundtrack to Peter Jackson‘s The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

GusGus’ music is eclectic, and although primarily classified with techno, trip-hop and house music, they have experimented with numerous other styles. They have also remixed several famous artists, including Björk, Depeche Mode, Moloko, and Sigur Rós. Added to this they released the song “Desire” with Ian Brown in January 2004. A remix of the track “Purple” appeared in remixed form on Paul Oakenfold’s successful trance compilation called Tranceport.

The band’s name refers to the 1974 German film Ali: Fear Eats the Soul by Rainer Werner Fassbinder, where a female character is cooking couscous for her lover, pronouncing it “Gus Gus”. The band regards it as a “sex reference”.

Poison Girls – Riot in my mind

The Poison Girls were an English anarcho-punk band. The female singer/guitarist, Vi Subversa, was a middle-aged mother of two at the band’s inception, and wrote songs that explored sexuality and gender roles, usually from an anarchist perspective. The original Poison Girls line-up also included: Lance D’Boyle (drums); Richard Famous (guitar/vocals); Nil (tapes/bass/electric violin); and Bernhardt Rebours (bass/synthesiser/piano).

Poison Girls formed in Brighton in 1976, before moving to Burleigh House in Essex, near to Dial House, the home of fellow anarchist band Crass, with whom they worked closely for a number of years, playing over 100 gigs with the band. In 1979 they contributed to the revival of the peace movement by playing a number of benefit gigs with Crass and paying for the production of the first CND badges since CND’s heyday. Again in 1979, and again with Crass, they proved influential to the establishment of the short lived Wapping Autonomy Centre by contributing the track “Persons Unknown” to a split single with Crass (who contributed “Bloody Revolutions”) and raising over £10,000. Their song “Bully Boys”, an attack on violent machismo led to the band being blacklisted by the left-wing Socialist Workers Party and attacked by members of the National Front both convinced it was an attack on them. The band also set up the label X-N-Trix alongside a publishing arm for the Impossible Dreammagazine and recording studios for other artists.

Though their last studio recording to date was in 1985, a number of Poison Girls compilations have since been released, and their songs frequently appear on punk anthologies.

Poison Girls were involved with the production of Aids — The Musical, through a company called The Lenya Hobnoobs Theatre Company. They did another show called Mother Russia was a Lesbian in 1992, and reunited for a show at the London Astoria II in 1995, celebrating the 60th birthday of Vi Subversa. Currently, Richard Famous works as a painter and decorator. Vi Subversa lives in Spain. The pair have performed as That Famous Subversa, a cabaret act they did together before the Poison Girls.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poison_Girls

Sonic Youth “Kool Thing”

Sonic Youth is an American alternative rock band from New York City, formed in 1981. The current lineup consists of Thurston Moore (vocals and guitar), Kim Gordon (vocals, bass, guitar), Lee Ranaldo (vocals and guitar), Steve Shelley (drums), and Mark Ibold (bass, guitar).

In their early career, Sonic Youth was associated with the No Wave art and music scene in New York City. Part of the first wave of American noise rock groups, the band carried out their interpretation of the hardcore punk ethos throughout the evolving American underground that focused more on the DIY ethic of the genre rather than its specific sound. As a result, some consider Sonic Youth as pivotal in the rise of the alternative rock and indie rock movements. The band has experienced success and critical acclaim throughout the last three decades, continuing into the new millennium, including signing to major label DGC in 1990, and headlining the 1995 Lollapalooza festival.

Sonic Youth have expressed a wide variety of influences, ranging from the influential protopunk musician Patti Smith to composer John Cage. The band has been praised for having “redefined what rock guitar could do”,using a wide variety of unorthodox guitar tunings, and preparing guitars with objects like drum sticks and screwdrivers to alter the instruments’ timbre.

Influences: Besides Branca, French avant-gardist Brigitte Fontaine, Patti Smith, Public Image Ltd (PiL) and The Stooges, another influence was 1980s-era hardcore punk; after seeing Minor Threat perform in May 1982, Moore declared them “the greatest live band I have ever seen”.While recognizing that their own music was very different from hardcore, Moore and Gordon, especially, were impressed by hardcore’s speed and intensity, and by the nationwide network of musicians and fans. “It was great,” said Moore, “the whole thing with slam dancing and stage diving, that was far more exciting than pogoing and spitting…. I thought hardcore was very musical and very radical.”

Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo have expressed on numerous occasions their admiration for the music of Joni Mitchell, such as this quote by Thurston Moore: “Joni Mitchell! I’ve used elements of her songwriting and guitar playing, and no one would ever know about it.” Additionally, Joni Mitchell has always used a number of alternative tunings, as does Sonic Youth. The band named a song after her, “Hey Joni”.

Members of the band have also maintained relationships with other avant-garde artists from other genres and even other media, drawing influence from the work of John Cage and Henry Cowell. For a 1988 Peel Session, Sonic Youth covered three songs by The Fall and “Victoria” by The Kinks, also covered by The Fall. Sonic Youth has featured album art by several well-known avant-garde visual artists, such as Mike Kelley, Tony Oursler and Gerhard Richter, whose paintings from his “Candles” series was used as artwork on Daydream Nation.

Cibelle – Punk da Periferia

Cibelle is a multi-media performance artist, singer-songwriter and music producer. Cibelle’s music is difficult to classify; she has been called a self-styled purveyor of “Tropical Punk”.

Her latest performances ranged from having two drum kits on stage, to having none at all. Each of her concerts are unique and the public never know exactly what to expect as far as shape and form.

Cibelle works by building tracks live on stage, welcoming special guests and inviting the audience to contribute to her ”bric-a-brac DIY” sound through sweet vocals, creative playfulness and lots of instrumental experimentation. Since moving to Dalston, Cibelle has been working more with visual arts and performance, taking part in the abravanista movement with Rick Castro – also a part of assume vivid astro focus – and collaborating as a part of collective and artzine FUR.uk.com, ran by photographer Cassia Cabatini and artist/printmaker Fabio Gurjao.furzine She is also a part of Supine Studios, a collective of artists/musicians based in Dalston.

At the Grammis awards in January 2007, The Knife won in all six categories that they were nominated in: Composer of the Year, Music DVD of the Year, Producer of the Year, Pop Group of the Year, Album of the Year and Artist of the Year. Again, they did not attend the award ceremony. On another occasion, they did not come to collect the award but sent a manipulated video that muffled their voices and made them look very elderly.

Silent Shout was named the best album of 2006 by Pitchfork Media. The song “We Share Our Mothers’ Health” from the album was made available for free as the iTunes Store’s Single of the Week in late 2006. This song was also featured in the ABC series Ugly Betty, as well as an episode of CSI: NY. In August 2007, “Heartbeats” was featured in an episode of the HBO series Entourage.

Stereo Total – Andy Warhol

Stereo Total is a Berlin-based multilingual, French-German duo comprising Françoise Cactus (born Françoise Van Hove and formerly co-leader of the West Berlin band Les Lolitas) and Brezel (‘pretzel’) Göring (aka Friedrich von Finsterwalde, born Friedrich Ziegler). Both Cactus and Göring sing and play multiple instruments. When they appear on stage as a duo, Cactus frequently plays drums while Göring plays guitar and synth; at other times the touring band has included additional musicians such as Angie Reed. Their early career was nurtured within Berlin’s easy listening scene, and they frequently supported the DJ team Le Hammond Inferno, who went on to form Bungalow Records and sign Stereo Total to their label. Stereo Total became the most successful act on Bungalow, finding an audience not just beyond Berlin but also across Europe and eventually in Japan and the US.

Their music is a playful, wildly eclecticmash-up of synth-pop, new wave, electronica, punk rock and pop music. The most consistent element in their cut and paste compositions is a retro-hip European 1960s style, with references to psych and garage-rock as well as to 1960s French-pop in the vein of Françoise Hardy, Jacques Dutronc, France Gall, and Brigitte Bardot. Some of their most recognized tracks are kitschy lo-fi covers of pop, rock and soul songs, such as their self-consciously trashy version of Salt-N-Pepa‘s electro rap hit “Push It.”

Their songs are primarily sung in German, French and English, but some of their output also features a number of other languages, such as Japanese, Spanish and Turkish. The band has covered songs by Sylvie Vartan, Françoise Hardy, Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg, Johnny Hallyday, Velvet Underground, Nico, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles, Pizzicato Five, Hot Chocolate, Die Tödliche Doris, KC and the Sunshine Band and Marjo (Corbeau).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stereo_Total

Underground Sound Of Lisbon – Are You Looking For Me?

Underground Sound of Lisbon (sometimes shortened to USL) was a collaboration between Portuguese house music producers Rui da Silva (then known as Doctor J) and DJ Vibe (real name Tó Pereira). It was active between 1993 and 2001. The duo started working together in 1993 by founding Kaos Records, the first Portuguese electronic music label, with promoter António Cunha. They released their first record as Underground Sound of Lisbon, “Chapter One”, in 1994, although by this time they signed their production work as LHT (Lisbon Hard Team). Still, the USL moniker became more famous after the track “So Get Up”, a hard tribal anthem with spoken word apocalyptic comments by rapper Darin Pappas (better known by his stage name Ithaka, but credited here as Korvowrong), received airplay in New York clubs at the hands of DJ Danny Tenaglia, which lead to a worldwide release at the Tribal America label. They also produced a track with house diva Celeda on the vocals. In 1998, USL contributed “Hailwa Yenge Oike Mbela” to the AIDS benefit compilation album Onda Sonora: Red Hot + Lisbon produced by the Red Hot Organization. By the late 90s their tribal house sound morphed into a more progressive and dreamy vibe. After the release of their final album, Etnocity, the duo officially split, as both artists wanted to branch out into other fields and work with other producers. Silva relocated to London, where he set up Kismet Records, while Vibe continued to tour worldwide and began working with up-and-coming Portuguese producers.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Underground_Sound_of_Lisbon
